"Sir, I must insist you leave the lab at once!"
"You idiot, There is no point to any of this if I just give up now!" The young man, hardly older than seventeen ran to the computers. "I WILL succeed! I MUST succeed."
"Sir, the lab is now an infected area," the other young man, about the same age, tried to grab his arm before being shrugged off, " if you stay you yourself will become the subject!"
"I don't care. Leave if you are so concerned about your health. I will finish this even if I die."
     "Reesha…"
                                                        **
"Unnghh…" Reesha groaned as he picked himself off the ground. He glanced around and found himself in a small clearing in the woods. He didn't remember how he got there or anything before there actually. He knew things, but no actual memories. He immediately began to think of a solution. The best he could come up with was amnesia.
"Hey, you in the woods!" Reesha started and scanned the immediate area.
"Calm down, and look above you." A smug voice instructed.
He immediately looked up and saw the person who had interrupted his thoughts. A girl, about his age, jumped down from a tree.
"Who are you and what do you want?" Reesha growled. He didn't like the way this girl was looking at him.
"I could ask you the same thing, but dude, you look in bad shape. Tell me your name and follow me." She began to walk toward him but he backed away. She frowned, "I'm not gonna hurt you. I     want to take you somewhere safe."
"Reesha." He grunted out his name and cautiously walked up to the girl. "Who are you?"
"I am known as Ritka." She gave him a smile that would make a psychopath jealous. She began to pace the clearing, thinking of something he probably didn't want to know about. Then, just as quickly as she started, she stopped and grabbed a hold of the startled boy and pulled him close. He was too surprised to put up any resistance as she whispered in his ear, "You are my master's new pet."
"The very thought of becoming someone's pet disgusts me." He said feebly, he was too weak to get himself free. She quickly sedated him. The last thing he saw before succumbing to the darkness was Ritka's insane smile.
       **
He woke up in a small room this time, a far different place from the clearing in the woods. He tried to get up and survey his surroundings, but restraints were holding him to the bed. Restrained to a bed, he could be strapped to worse things in far worse places he supposed. He tried to look around the best he could to form some semblance of a plan. Unfortunately, he didn't get very far when Ritka and who he assumed was her master walked through the door.
"Welcome, you must be Reesha." The man, whom Reesha was going to refer to as Creepy Dude, started circling the bed, "Ritka tells me you are my new pet. However, I don't need a sick pet, so I may just kill you." Creepy Dude stopped circling and began to pet Reesha's hair, at that time Reesha began to struggle. He hated being touched, or at least he thought he did.
"I am no one's pet. Neither am I sick! Will you STOP TOUCHING ME!" Reesha struggled even harder to get free from his bonds and get away from the grinning man.
"What a pity. Here I thought we could get along, and cure your illness. Oh, by the way, my name is Abram. This is my 'home'." Reesha could hear the quotes around the word home; he made it sound as though it was much more than that.
"I could care less. As I have told you, I am not sick, I am not a pet, and will you STOP!" Abram had started petting Reesha's hair again .Reesha was losing his patience with this man.
"What a beautiful temper, to fit such a beautiful face." Abram lightly smacked his face and grinned,    "I know all about your memory loss, and a side-effect of your past. You are sick; a disease called 'Lychrno' is currently in your system eating your muscles and such things. Don't be too alarmed, it won't eat your bones and it replaces everything it eats with a layer of minerals and things your body needs to work. It makes you stronger, faster, better all around, but it wastes your body away to nothing. In order to survive the progress and gain the benefits, you'll need me. That's the simple version. I'll also get your memories back."
"Then I guess I will need your help, but," Reesha tried to scoot away from Abram, who had sat on the bed to pet his hair better, "Your offer seems really suspicious."
"I guess it does," Abram crawled closer and leaned toward Reesha's face, "You're the one restrained to a bed."
Abram grinned and leaned in closer to prove his point. Reesha turned his head away to avoid contact with the odd older man's face. Reesha was seriously beginning to doubt Abram's sanity.
"Are you willing to do anything I ask, anything?" Abram asked. Reesha knew he'd regret this, but as long as he wasn't a sex slave he didn't really care what he did.
"Yes." He sighed in defeat. Abram grinned and snapped his fingers. Ritka jumped to attention and came to her master.
"Ritka, you are to get Reesha accustomed to our way of life here. Bring him back here in a week so I can check his progress." He turned back to Reesha, "Don't worry my little kitty-cat; you'll make a fine assassin." He tweaked Reesha's nose, much to his displeasure, and left the room.
Ritka didn't speak a word as she undid the cuffs on Reesha's hands and feet. She was absolutely silent as she led him through the lavishly decorated halls of Abram's 'home'. Reesha glanced at her every so often, trying to tell if she was a threat or not. She led him to a bathroom, handed him a change of clothes and told him to follow the signs to a place where he could sleep. She left the room and didn't even to bother to shut the door.
What's her problem? Reesha thought
                                                                                    **
As the days passed and turned into weeks, Reesha and Ritka gradually became civil to each other. By the time weeks were months they were inseparable. Reesha visited Abram periodically to check his training, but other than that it was just him and Ritka. They had become the closest friends as well as the best assassins Abram could hope for. The other slaves (there were a couple hundred others they had to compete with to gain Abram's favor) were insanely jealous of the duo. Reesha had progressed exponentially, but as he did, so did his disease. It got to the point where the others thought Ritka was doing all of Reesha's work. That didn't go over too well, especially when Reesha began to kill the ones spreading the rumors. He even asked Ritka to join the 'fun'. They were top dog, if only for the year it would last. Then Reesha found the labs.
It began at first by his meeting Sharim, a slave who was about nineteen. He denied anything that didn't score him favor points and was looking for a place to the top, so he joined Ritka and Reesha. Sharim said he knew of a place that was really interesting and would keep Reesha occupied. (Reesha had been having issues keeping entertained by the assassin's life style.) Thus, he led them to the Labs.
Reesha had fallen in love with the Labs. For an odd reason, it seemed to bring back vague memories to him. Memories of a boy with black hair, but he couldn't recall a face. But it was important, or the memories wouldn't have been strong enough to remember.
Ritka was disgusted anyone, or anything, could even do some of the things that went on in there. However, since Reesha loved it, she would put up with it. She had come to see herself as his adoptive older sister, and she loved him to death.
Abram even noticed his aptitudes for the Labs and had him stationed as the leading biogenetic scientist. Everything was going perfect for Reesha, until there was an accident.
"Everybody get out!" Reesha screamed. He pushed at people trying to get them to move faster. The Labs had become a toxic environment for any living creature. If the people didn't get out, they might not be people anymore. He had no clue what would happen.
"Reesha, come on, you have to came too!" Someone screamed at him. He paused at what he thought were his memories began to flash through his mind; a situation similar to this actually, and just as deadly.
"Just go, I'll be ok. I promise." Reesha rushed through the building, searching for anyone left behind. He didn't find anyone recognizable, so he headed back. The labs would clear in a few days and he could return to his work, assuming he got out. His body was already protesting the abuse of walking and so, after a few more steps, he collapsed. He accepted the darkness that came for him, and hoped to wake up again.
                                                **
"Reesha, you awake?" Reesha cracked open his eyes and grunted. For the second time in his life he woke up restrained to a bed. Ritka looked at him as though he wasn't the same anymore, as though he was a monster. He didn't understand. Ritka was his sister, why would she look at him, of all people, like he wasn't human?
"Congratulations!"  Reesha jumped (well, tried…stupid restraints) when Abram appeared at his side, "You're alive, and you've survived your disease!"
"Stuff it and let me up." His voice sounded a little different to him, he didn't think much of it until Ritka let him up and he took a good look at himself. The whole building rang with the force of his scream.
His hair, instead of the long ponytail he had come to love, was now cropped short. Instead of his black streak, he had black spots! Luckily, his eyes had remained the same, but his face was fuller, less wasted. His body had finally resembled a normal human, except the paws that had replaced his feet and the claws on his hands. Both his arms and legs were covered in a layer of fur the same as his hair. He was a monster, that's why Ritka refused to even look at him.
"What happened?" He asked Abram. He had to be dreaming.
"You have obtained the perfect body. Well, the body of a perfect being. Your hair was better long; I'll miss it so much! Anyway," He continued after receiving a disgusted look from Reesha, "You are the ultimate being, so now I will fill in my other end of the deal if you do yours. I can return your memories, and you'll destroy this miserable world."
"What? You wanna-" Reesha began, but got cut off by Abram.
"Shut up. You are to do as I say if you want them back. Oh, and thank your little friend Sharim for getting you to the Labs for me. Without him, you would've never been exposed to the last dose of radiation you needed for the Lychnro cells to mutate and spread. I need to reward him soon. Goodbye." Reesha didn't make a move when Abram patted him on the head, or when he walked out the door. He couldn't, his life was basically shattered. One of his closest friends sold him out, he has the choice of killing the planet and getting his memories or dying and Abram killing the planet anyway, and his body got remodeled without his knowing! His world was shattering into tiny little pieces and there was nothing he could do.
It was their fault. Theirs! If he hadn't met them he would've at least died in peace! No, they had to die. It was their fault, their fault, their…fault…
"DIIIEEE!!" He screamed in a rage. Ritka looked terrified and backed against a wall. She had lost her little brother, and she couldn't help him.
He jumped over the bed and tables ran past Ritka, and out the door. He had an animalistic body, why not an animalistic state of mind? The first thing he would do is kill the traitor. Then, after enjoying Sharim's death, he would kill the madman. Abram had always creeped him out, now he had an excuse to kill him. Saving this planet's existence was just a bonus.  He was now a monster in Ritka's eyes; he had no one else. Life was pointless without anyone else.
He crashed into the slave quarters and ripped the place apart for Sharim. He roared at the huddled groups of slaves, demanding to know where he was. A small slave boy (no older than nine) pointed out the direction; he smiled a fanged grin and ran off. He began to trail Sharim now that the stench of the slave quarters and the Labs were gone. It was pathetically easy to find him; terror was coming off of him in waves. It did not take Reesha long to trap and kill him. When he arrived back at the slave quarters to thank the little boy, they backed away from his blood-spattered person. He realized they had no idea who he was. He had no more reason to stall; it was time to kill Abram.
He scented the creeper's trail and rushed to his location. What he saw when he got there drove him to near insanity. What little he could remember from that incident he didn't want to.  Abram was standing above Ritka covered in her blood, and holding a knife.
"No more distractions, my little kitty-cat." Abram grinned and Reesha snapped.
Reesha tore at Abram, ripping limb after limb off his body. Abram, of course, couldn't put up resistance against a perfect being. Reesha didn't stop until Abram was a mass of meat on the floor. By the time he realized what he was doing, it was too late. Now he had nothing, no one. He sobbed into his bloodied fur, he couldn't handle the pain. He couldn't even remember his own past. He was just useless now. He grabbed Abram's knife off the floor, and drove it through his chest. He wanted to die.
                                           **
"Get up." Reesha shot up where he lie, he killed himself, why was he here?
"You're here because I pulled your soul here. Now get up." Reesha looked at who was speaking. It was a young woman, maybe sixteen, smiling serenely. "I am the Creator. Your time on earth was ended prematurely. You'll go back and finish your duties."
"You speak as though I have no choice." Reesha muttered. The Creator just raised an eyebrow,           "Then again, I guess I don't. Don't expect much, I have destroyed all my ties with that place."
"Of course you didn't!" She laughed, "You still have your memories to retrieve. Now, you'll work for me, and you'll get your memories back."
"Now doesn't this sound familiar, but, whatever. Nothing could get worse." Reesha had given up, this was either a dream or he was really speaking with Creator. Either way, it made the most sense to go along.
"Good, now get to work." She gave him his instructions and walked away. Before she was gone completely she turned, "Good luck Reesha Krisoff." Krisoff? It was awfully familiar…and apparently his name.
A bright flash of light later and he was back on earth, in his original body. He didn't understand much of what was told to him, but he understood his job. It was his job to play Grim Reaper for God. Good thing he was a trained assassin, it would make collecting souls much easier.
Reesha smiled an evil grin and took off, never once looking back. He had memories to retrieve and a quota to fill, and one good lead on where to start. Krisoff, his forgotten name; and the Boy with the black hair who now had a face. He wondered what was going to happen next.
